HealthNet Settlement

On July 1, 2006, a settlement agreement was reached with HealthNet; the deadline for filing a monetary claim toward the HealthNet Settlement has passed.

The establishment of a Physicians Advisory Committee of practicing physicians was one initiative contained in the agreement between HealthNet and representatives of thousands of physicians that settled a national class-action lawsuit. Cameron Staples, Esq., Partner with Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C. and legal counsel to the Connecticut State Medical Society, serves as the Compliance Dispute Facilitator for this settlement. As Facilitator, Mr. Staples will oversee the compliance dispute resolution mechanism, which is designed to address disputes regarding HealthNet's compliance with the terms of the settlement agreement.

The compliance dispute process is triggered by filing a brief dispute form describing how HealthNet has violated the terms of the settlement agreement. Documentation which illustrates the violation should be included with the form. Filing a compliance dispute involves no cost to physicians or their practices.
